Wicker Park is just northwest of downtown Chicago. Also, not only is it incredibly convenient to get to from downtown, it’s also accessible to the rest of the greater Chicagoland area. Not surprisingly, the Wicker Park neighborhood is one of the most thriving areas of Chicago.

Wicker Park is an ideal place for young professionals and families to live. It is packed with popular bars and restaurants. In addition, you will find live music and comedy in and around the neighborhood Also, Wicker Park has plenty of grocery stores, parks, and convenience stores. In nearby Bucktown, several nice hotels make it ideal for having guests from out of town. Despite its urban feel, Wicker Park has plenty of quiet, residential streets that are close to the action, but not in the middle of it.

Division Street, between Ashland and Western, is a great strip in Wicker Park. First, at the east end of the stip, Division intersects with Ashland and Milwaukee. At that intersection, you’ll find a huge CVS, the Division blue line stop, banks, and other stores. Yes, just like many blocks in the city, you’ll also find a Starbucks nearby.

Toward the west end, at Division and Damen, you’ll find another hot area of Wicker Park. Popular restaurants, like Parlor Pizza and Smoke Daddy, are nearby. In addition, bars, banks, and boutiques fill the commercial spaces. It gets crowded around here on nice weekends in the summer.

One of the best parts of Wicker Park is how connected it is to the rest of the city. It’s nearby the 90/94 expressway, which is one of the main expressway systems running through and around Chicago. Also, Milwaukee Avenue runs diagonally through the neighborhood and is one of three streets intersecting at the 6-corner intersection (Division-Ashland-Milwaukee) to create one of the liveliest neighborhoods in Chicago. Walk around on a warm summer day, and you’ll know what we mean. Remember, Milwaukee is a main avenue connecting bikers and drivers to neighboring areas, like Logan Square, Wicker Park, and Ukrainian Village.

Wicker Park is connected to downtown by public transportation. For instance, the main public transit artery is the blue line in the El Train system. The blue line runs through the heart of Wicker Park, with both the Division and Damen stops being very popular. Having the blue line is critical for accessing other parts of the city. This means that people can come from all over the city to practice yoga in Wicker Park.

Another example of how Wicker Park is connected to the city is the Bloomingdale Trail. The 606 on the Bloomingdale Trail, technically in nearby Bucktown, is an elevated trail that people use for running, walking, and biking. Surrounded by nature, the trail is 2.7 miles long and runs between Ashland and North Ridgeway Avenue. When the weather permits, it’s a great place to exercise or spend time with family. Again, like the El, this trail can bring people into practice yoga in Wicker Park.

Along the trial, you’ll find parks and other open spaces where people practice yoga. Sometimes, you’ll see large groups practicing yoga together. Other times, you’ll see people practicing alone or in small groups. Regardless, on a nice sunny day, expect to see people out on the trail.
